App transfer requires active account access. Without credentials, apps cannot be transferred or managed. Add collaborators with appropriate permissions to critical apps. For business applications, upgrade to Team or Enterprise plans with multiple owners. Document all apps, add-ons, and transfer procedures.
Heroku Postgres and Redis databases remain running and accessible to the app but cannot be managed without account access. Config vars cannot be viewed or exported by collaborators. Document database credentials, backup procedures, and config var values separately. Consider migrating critical data to organization-controlled infrastructure.
Team and Enterprise accounts require admin role for management. Add multiple admins to prevent single points of failure. Document organization structure, billing details, Private Spaces configurations, and compliance requirements (Shield). Prepare team member lists and access procedures for continuity.
Running apps continue operating and incurring charges until payment fails. Bills accumulate, then Heroku suspends apps and may delete data. Document monthly costs, dyno usage, and add-on subscriptions. Provide billing access or configure organizational payment methods to prevent service disruption.
