Dear friends,
Static site hosting, serverless functions, continuous deployment, edge functions, previews
Netlify: Free, Pro, Business, Enterprise | Vercel: Hobby, Pro, Enterprise
Deployed sites/projects, build configurations, environment variables, analytics, form submissions (Netlify)
Site access requires account credentials. Personal free/hobby accounts become completely inaccessible without login. Upgrade to team/pro accounts with multiple owners for critical sites. Add collaborators with appropriate permissions. Document all sites, repositories, and deployment configurations for infrastructure awareness.
Environment variables cannot be exported or viewed by team members without explicit project access. Secrets expire with account access. Sites may fail to deploy or function without environment variables. Document all environment variables, API keys, and third-party service credentials separately. Rotate secrets to team-managed infrastructure.
Team ownership requires Owner role access. Add multiple owners to prevent single points of failure. Document team structure, billing subscriptions, site portfolios, and bandwidth usage. Without succession planning, teams become inaccessible and sites may be suspended for billing issues.
Custom domains continue pointing to sites as long as DNS records remain configured. However, domain management requires both platform account access and domain registrar access. Document all domain registrars, DNS configurations, SSL certificate renewal procedures, and nameserver settings. Transfer domain ownership to organizational accounts.
